Pigeon Key

January 26, 2010

One of the most serene drives in the world is the drive down to Key West. It’s beautiful, sunny, and relaxing. Don’t take it so fast and take time to stop at the various locations. Right before the famous Seven Mile Bridge, I suggest stopping and checking out Pigeon Key.

Now a ghost town, it was originally a jumping point for the workers of the old Seven Mile Bridge to stay. You can either do the 2.2 mile walk over on the old Seven Mile Bridge or take the Pigeon Key Express from Pigeon Key Preservation building on Knight’s Key (1 Knights Key Boulevard, Marathon, FL 33050). There are many historical building from when the workers stayed and the scenery is beautiful. Parking is available around mile marker 47.
