If you have never had nabe or shabu shabu, then I recommend Naniwa (4 East 46th Street, New York, NY). Basically, nabe is a hot pot, which includes vegetables, noodles, meats, and fish. At Naniwa, for $25-30, you can get an all you can eat of this sort. It also includes a sushi appetizer. I highly recommend this, especially if you have never had the Japanese hot pot experience. For more privacy, you can reserve a room upstairs.

That may be true. I’ve seen and heard mixed reviews. Positive for Japanese folks and negative reviews from the gaikokujins.
