Korean BBQ is amazing, however Japanese BBQ, otherwise known as yakiniku (literally means grilled meat) is more incredible. A chain restaurant called Gyu-kaku serves Japanese style BBQ. A great place to bring a party, the alcohol is inexpensive and everyone sits around a charcoal brazier and cooks their own meat.

They have happy hour specials and lunch specials that keep the prices low. They also have their selection of American Kobe beef. (Please note, this is American Kobe-style beef). As well as chicken, shrimp, duck, other vegetables, and other cuts of beef. With so many selections, you need to bring friends to try them all out.

My recommendations:

Ahi Tuna Poke

Negi Tan

Premium Kalbi

Miso marinated Harami

Chilean Sea Bass

Shrimp with garlic lemon juice

P-Toro Pork

Mushroom Medley

There are 2 locations in New York. I like the Cooper Square one as it is bigger and less cramped.

34 Cooper Square, New York, NY 10003

805 3 Ave, New York, NY 10022

Remember, check out their website, they always have some sort of special or another!
