La Baguette

La Baguette

La Baguette (427 Southwest 8th Street, Miami) is a new sandwich place with a concept similar to SoBe’s La Sandwicherie. This place is opened 24 hours and is pushing to be the drunk “spot” in downtown/Brickell Miami.

Sandwich places are great. It’s simple, easy to make, and all you need is one good ingredient, the bread. Unfortunately, this place doesn’t have the one good ingredient; its bread is strangely hard and a bit stale. I ordered a ham, salami, and provolone sandwich on wheat bread with the ‘works’ (lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, black olives, pickles, green & hot peppers, and baguette vinaigrette). So the bread wasn’t great, to add on to that, the deli meat was sub standard.

Funny thing, I read a lot of the reviews on UrbanSpoon, it looks like someone wrote a couple of positive reviews in order to make them look good. Everyone else says it’s terrible.

My opinion? Pass on this place until they think of using better bread or drive over to La Sandwicherie
